WHAT IS HAPPENING
HAPPENING is built on a simple idea: entrepreneurship is about making an idea happen.
We support emerging creative entrepreneurs in:
- Developing their own projects
- Understanding their ecosystems (local and European)
- Strengthening their skills and confidence
- Evaluating their impact as cultural entrepreneurs
- Shaping their own definition of cultural entrepreneurship
HAPPENING is supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, led by a consortium of 4 organisations:
ALTER EGO (X) (An organisation that supports and develops impactful cultural initiatives in France and across Europe) x Energie alter-native (A cultural association supporting performing arts through festivals and artist development) x
Entire Framework (A technology consultancy designing digital solutions) x ICHEC (A Brussels-based business school fostering sustainable innovation in Cultural and Creative Industries).
CONTEXT
Young artists and emerging creatives in Europe face increasing challenges related to professionalization, access to resources, and sustainable career development.
The evolving cultural landscape, combined with shifts in artistic economies and the need for cross-border cooperation, highlights the importance of accessible support structures. HAPPENING responds by offering a European framework that links creativity with entrepreneurial learning and fosters cooperation across borders.
Needs addressed
- Lack of structured support for young artists in developing entrepreneurial and professional skills
- Limited access to European collaboration and mobility opportunities
- Insufficient training resources connecting artistic practice with practical competences such as budgeting, communication, digital ethics, and project development
- Need for personalized guidance to structure artistic projects and build sustainable careers
- Need for visibility and platforms to showcase emerging artistic work at a European scale
EXPECTED RESULTS
By building a platform, including a nine-month European Programme (September 2026 – May 2027), we aim to achieve:
- Strengthened skills and competences of young artists to support sustainable artistic and professional development
- A reinforced European network of emerging creatives, mentors, and cultural professionals
- Creation of accessible tools and learning resources, including a European platform highlighting artistic projects and training materials
- Enhanced cross-border cooperation and mobility for emerging artists
- Improved capacity of participants to structure, validate, and develop their artistic projects
- Registration open until: 9 September 2026
- Timing: 16:00 — 17:15 CET
- Participation is free of charge (co-funded by Erasmus+ Youth Programme)
